Dubai is such a fascinating place. They call it the Las Vegas of the Middle East because it is not as strict as neighboring countries. But Dubai is a lot better than Las Vegas, it is real.

A little dwarfed by Dubai are Abu Dhabi and Qatar, two very interesting countries nearby. Abu Dhabi appears more relaxed than Dubai and with more green space. Qatar certainly a lot stricter than Dubai. but extremely friendly towards visitors. Great architecture exists and is being built in both. Well worth a visit.
The stunning Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The project was launched by the late president of the U.A.E., Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to unite the cultural diversity of Islam with the values of architecture and art. Completed in 2007, it can hold up to 41,000 people.
